Native to Madagascar, very aromatic. Grows at an altitude of 800 - 2200 meters in the central highlands and central eastern hills of Madagascar. In sun or partial shade. Can tolerate drought and to fire. Has like well-drained sandy or loam soils. Called on Madagascar Rambiazina or Rambazine. An oil is also produced by steam distillation of the flowering tops.
It is a short shrub-like tree with large leaves that were cooked in folk medicine to be used in case of fever.Crushed and mixed with fat, they were used against rheumatism and gout.
In Madagascar, a growing number of Helichrysum species H. gymnocephalum 1.8-cineol 59.7% - H. bracteiferum 1.8-cineol 27.3% - H. selaginifolium b-pinene 38.2% - H. cordifolium (E) -caryophylleen 55.6% - H. faradifani 34.6% - H. hypnoides 34%.
Helichrysum Gymnocephalum, grows in South Africa or Madagascar, it has a camphorous aroma similar with Eucalyptus, and has a high content of cineole, which provides support for the respiratory system. It creates a hostile environment for cold and flu.

INHALATION: Add 10 drops of Helichrysum Gymnocephalum to a personal inhaler and inhale throughout the day.
FATIGUE: In a 10 ml roll-on, add 3 drops Helichrysum Gymnocephalum, 1 drop Yuzu and 1 drop Key Lime. Top off with Coconut carrier oil and roll-on to your shirt collar.

Very different to Helichrysum italicum known for skin and wound care, Helichrysum gymnocephalum is said to be powerful for use in a diffuser or oil warmer with cold, flu, congestion, and headaches.
Some sources state Helichrysum gymnocephalum has a camphoraceous medicinal smell. Our noses pick up an aroma more terpenic than camphoraceous with an underlying sweet slightly fruity-floral side. The combined total of terpinenes and terpineol in this organic grown and certified organic distilled Helichrysum gymnocephalum is 8.25%.
Helichrysum gymnocephalum is an excellent choice for those with less affinity to the smell of Eucalyptus and other camphoraceous medicinal smelling oils.
